Available by the hour

The OCiETe interpretation service is offered on an hourly basis. You can request for an interpreter for business meetings, seminars, interviews, and various other occasions more freely.

Choose an interpreter on your own

Once you sign up for OCiETe, you can find interpreters and put in a request from My Page. This allows you to find the one who is most suitable for your project, based on their backgrounds and experiences.

Flexible support

Our dedicated coordinators will propose and support interpreters according to your needs, purposes, and budget for interpretation. Please feel free to contact us if you are in a hurry or have never used an interpretation service before.

Transcription feature

You can also use our transcription feature upon registration. In addition to transcription of recordings, real-time transcription is available.

Types of Interpretation We Offer

Online interpretation

All the process will be completed online from putting in a request to actual interpretation. We will coordinate an interpreter who is familiar with online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Simultaneous interpretation is also available.

Examples:Internal meetings, business negotiations, webinars

Remote interpretation

We also provide remote interpretation for events and conferences where only the interpreter participates online. You can hold an event on-site while the audience and interpreter (or only the interpreter) can participate online.

Examples:Online exhibitions, webinars, and other events where participants are invited regardless of location

On-site interpretation

We will arrange for interpreters on-site, not only in Japan but also overseas. Please feel free to contact us, whether you would like ones to accompany you on the trip from Japan or arrange for local interpreters. We can also coordinate sound equipment and engineers for events, seminars, and other occasions.

※0.25 hours will be deducted for a rush fee for the service arranged within 2 business days (counting the day when the request was made as Day 0).

FAQs

I am requesting interpretation for the first time. What are the steps to follow?
There are two ways of putting in a request. You can choose your preferred option after signing up as a free member.

1. Free coordination (You can leave all the arrangements to us)
2. Making an offer (You can search and find an interpreter)

We assure that you will have the best interpreter for your needs from the industry’s largest pool of 1,000 interpreters.
I am not confident in how to choose an interpreter/how to decide which one is the best for my needs.
We offer a coordination service by the staff who has interpreting experience. They will introduce you to interpreters who are most suitable according to your industry, business conditions, and scope of interpretation.
My client has specified an online conference system, but I am not familiar with it. Can you teach me how to use it?
Yes, we will be happy to help you. We have several options, so please contact our coordinators for more details.

Can I have an interview with an interpreter before I decide on them?
Yes, you can. In order to avoid a mismatch, we also offer an unprecedented service in the industry called Free Trial Interview, which allows you to interview the interpreter before you actually put in a request.

Do I need to have a preparatory session with my interpreter before the actual meeting?
We request a 30-minute to 1-hour preparatory session with the interpreter to maximize their performance. While many of our registered interpreters have experience interpreting in a variety of industries and business areas, we assure that our service will be provided after understanding your request and business background fully. It is also possible to contact and share materials with the interpreter in advance for their preparation, such as industry-specific terminology and fundamental knowledge on the industry.
Is it possible to use the service by the hour?
Yes, you can. You can arrange time freely, depending on an agreement between you and the interpreter. In the case of simultaneous interpretation, however, two interpreters will be required for any event of 1 hour or longer to ensure the quality of interpretation.
We need an interpreter on short notice. Can I arrange for one?
You can, depending on the interpreter’s availability. However, it may take some time to contract with us for the first contract and/or to prepare with the interpreter. We recommend that you make arrangements well in advance. Also, an additional rush fee will be charged for same-day or next-day interpretation services.
Can I use OCiETe for purposes other than web meetings?
We can also provide interpretation for seminars, webinars, and public classes, as well as multilingual narration for videos and more.
How quickly can I have an interpreter?
It is possible to have an interpreter available in as short as 2 days. However, we recommend that you allow as much time as possible since it may take time to contract with us for the first time, prepare with the interpreter, and/or schedule with them.
Do you support any online conference system?
Any online conference system can be used.
We have used the following tools in the previous projects:Zoom, Google Chat, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Belle Face, V-CUBE Meeting, Lite FreshVoice, Calling, LoopGate, etc.

Can I arrange for an interpreter who is specialized in particular industries or fields?
We have the industry's largest pool of 1,000 interpreters with experience in a variety of industries and fields. Upon free membership registration, you can see their profiles to find the interpreter who meet your needs best.
What is the level and performance of your registered interpreters?
We interview all prospective interpreters, and only those who have undergone our business etiquette and skills checks are registered. In order to avoid a mismatch, we also offer a coordination service as well as the Free Trial Interview, which allows you to interview an interpreter before you actually put in a request.

How much does it cost to arrange for an interpreter?
Our fees start at ¥25,000 per hour. Our OCiETe coordinator will send you a quote prior to an actual arrangement, so that you are fully satisfied with the cost before you place your order.
All interpretation fees include the cost of preparation for interpretation.
Do you charge any fees other than the one of arranging for an interpreter?
We charge a preparation fee for the interpreter’s preparatory work.
I am concerned about security. Is it safe?
All services conducted within the scope of OCIETe, whether they are online or offline, are covered by Cyber Protector, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance’s information leakage insurance policy. In the event of an information leakage, the policy will provide compensation in case our interpreters receive a claim for damages for an unintentional information leakage (cyberattacks, misdirected emails, etc.). Our services have also been adopted by several leading companies in Japan, which demonstrates our successful compliance with their strict security requirements.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment on invoice.
Payment may be made by bank transfer.
We send a PDF invoice to the person in charge based on the condition of closing at the end of the month and payment at the end of the following month.
